“Cooper Dukes has been an asset to the Dog Meets World team. He listens intently to outlined needs, follows up with comprehensive research and presents options in user friendly terms. He is organized, professional and completes jobs in a timely fashion, including responding rapidly to all communications.” ~Dr. Carolyn Lane, Founder, Dog Meets World
Dog Meets World is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to putting a photo in the hands of every child. DMW reaches out to travelers, encouraging them to buy a portable printer and to take and print on-site photos of the children they meet on their journeys. Volunteers have their pictures and experiences shared on the organization’s website.
In regards to DMW’s workflow, I created a custom configuration of SugarCRM so that they could better manage their volunteer and travel information. I also expanded the functionality of their VerticalResponse account, creating a web form which allows visitors to sign up for DMW’s mailing list directly from the website, removing any intermediate administrative steps from the process.
I completely redesigned the organization’s website, making a cleaner-looking, more navigable theme which focused on traveler images over text. A key part of this upgrade was the creation of an informative landing page targeted at first time visitors that was distinct from the blog, targeted at returning users. Additionally, I reworked the site’s WordPress backend, implementing caching to cut page load time and making various best practice security changes, including automated spam protection and automated database backups.
